On 16th October,2015 the 34th Annual World Food Day was celebrated in The Oxford School, Kollam with students making it a memorable day of learning ,creating, caring and sharing.
The Honorable Guest for the occasion, Mr. Sam Wellington (Food Inspector, Perumpuzha) inaugurated the function. An exhibition of organic agricultural produce and a treat of delicacies prepared by students were the major attractions.
The Honourable Guest conducted an awareness class for students stressing on the necessity of shunning junk food. They were also made aware of the hazards of consuming artificially ripened fruits and pesticide laden vegetables.
A house wise poster contest was also conducted based on the 2015 World Food Day theme, “ Social Protection and Agriculture: Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty” in which students of classes V to X participated enthusiastically.
