The Oxford School Kollam celebrated 17th Annual Sports Day on 19th Nov 2016, with great fervor and zeal in the magnificent school ground. Students from primary and senior secondary classes participated in different events. The opening ceremony commenced at 9 am inaugurated by the guest of honour Dr. Saju. S (Associate Professor, Department of Physical Education FMN College Kollam) who unfurled the School Flag and declared the sports meet open.
A comprehensive, adorable, majestic March Past demonstrated by four houses viz. Neptune House, Venus House, Jupiter House and Saturn House, headed by the Head Boy Master. Muhammed Yazeen and Ms. Janaki Krishna the Head Girl of the school. The Captains and Vice Captains of each House holding their Flags and Placards (Blue, Green, Saffron and Red) and Dr. Saju, the Chief Guest received the Guard of Honour.
Ms. Janaki Krishnan Head Girl delivered the welcome speech , Mr. Abdurahiman respected Principal Of Oxford school in his Presidential address exhorted to the youth to spring up with their innate talents and skills in sports. Inaugural address was done by Dr. Saju reminded the students the importance of sports in leading a healthy life.
The Olympic Torch was carried by Schools sports captain Master. Ibrahim Thaha who handed it over to the captains of various houses and solemnized the Olympic Oath. Master. Althaf Muhammed Deputy Sports Captain delivered the Vote of thanks. The event was successfully organized and made memorable under the guidance of Mr. Melbinson Toby (Director of physical Education) and Mrs. Jisha Physical Education teacher. Each winner was honoured with Medals by Principal, Vice Principal and Headmistress. Jupiter House was declared as the winner. The Sports Meet came to an end at 4.30 pm
